Yah know; it's weird like that. How you can forget about something for some time and then BLAMMO! Something reminds you of it and your love with it starts all over again. Like hooking up with an ex that rocked the bedsprings like Iron Maiden playing their greatest hits on a giant speaker the size of the moon. Course, when you lose interest or get sidetracked you don't get any awkward scenarios telling your hobby how you're tired of ‘em and that they should come back in a few months. I was icing and having stim done to my shoulder after another
medieval session with my wonderful physical therapist/Secretary of
cruelty & punishment for the Spanish Inquisition, when I came
across a really great article ( Look here ). It was about this guy taking a brand new, fully loaded, Mercedes SL65 AMG
to the drag strip and what it was like to take a Luxo-barge on the
sauce down the 1320. At 604hp and 738ft lbs of torque stabbing that
beast must be a real rush even while sitting in fine Corinthian Leather
and sipping a 30 year old scotch. You could have a guy chewing a
mouthful of rubber before he can finish asking, “Have you got any Grey
Poupon?” You don't even need to be 60 years old and have a driver for
this kind of luxury car either. I mean, who DRIVES a Bentley? Jeeves
does, that's who. Yet again though, my mind envisions hitting chicanes and blasting
out straights in another beauty. This time it's between two of Nissans
finest: The new 350Z and the super-bad Skyline R34 GT-R V-spec .
I have driven one of the 350Z's before and after putting though it's
paces along the streets of L.A. I was happy to report that it can break
the tires loose from 1 st to 2 nd and it accelerates out of corners
like a champ. I have always dug Nissans when it came to foreign sports
cars and for the money there isn't much of a better deal out there. I
can't say that I have driven, let alone sat in a GT-R. I have eyeballed
a blue one close enough to have to clean the drool off the car before
the owner returned though. Being celebrity in Japan I will now
shamelessly beg for Nissan or any performance group to sponsor me to
get one of those R34 V-Spec cars. Onegai Shimasu!!! While in Japan I also stopped in a BMW dealership in Shinjuku nishi-guchi to get a pamphlet for the new 645 coupe . I really liked the 845's when they came out as they had a real sporty look and in black looked like K.I.T.'s (You gotta remember Knight Rider) bigger, cooler brother who got all the tail. This new 6 series embodies all the cool of German luxury with the sports car abilities that a guy like me wants. You know the type, wants to get his license revoked because of showing off in front of his friends. The 645 doesn't have the HP or torque like the AMG does but you can tune it to your taste without having to take it hard from behind in the price. Ahhh. To dream a wonderful dream of a million dollars in auto's without having to run from the mob for the loans you skipped out on. Seems like a real big dream to me but I am fine with that. If you got everything you always dreamed of then what would be left dream about? Some car links for those too lazy to click ‘em in the entry:
