Megumi Fujii and her students -Tamada, Akano and Sayaka- competed in Smackgirl's: "Queen of Grappling" tounrnament on July 23rd, 2006. Megumi, while favored to win her weight class,amazingly needed only :50 seconds in total to capture the gold. Meeting Paraestra's Emi Tomimatsu in the finals, Megumi quickly snapped on her famous toe-hold and got the submission in just :20 seconds.

Megumi's students from AACC were also able to medal with Akano taking the gold at 58kg and Tamada gathering silver in the 48kg class.

With this win Megumi has been on an unbeaten streak in submission events since her 3rd place win at the 2005 ADCC Championships. Look for Megumi to compete here in the near future and maybe be the first female to compete in the PRIDE ring!
