Barnett to Fight Nastula in America

ImageJosh Barnett who has made a big splash since fighting in Pride making it to the Open Weight GP Finals by defeating Rodrigo Nogueira in the semifinals, will be fighting Polish fighter, Pawel Nastula. Having just fought two of the world’s top heavyweight’s- Cro Cop and Nogueira- in one night less than two weeks ago, Barnett told MMAWeekly that he is fine and will be able to fight in October. Mark Hunt versus Eric ‘Butterbean’ Esch was also announced. Probably the first matchup for Butterbean since fighting in Pride that will fit his style of fighting as both fighters are heavy throwers.

President Sakakibara said that there will be 9 fights for the Pride USA show, and they expect to announce the remaining 5 matches by the end of September. Also mentioned as participants where Kazuhiro Nakamura and Kazuyuki Fujita who is still being negotiated with along with some more Japanese fighters.

Fights already slated for the event:

- Fedor Emelianenko (Red Devil/ Russia) VS. Mark Coleman (Hammer House/ USA)

- Kevin Randleman (Hammer House/ USA) VS. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (Chute Boxe Academy/ Brazil)
