Barnett student, Megumi Fujii met Fatal Femme Fighting champion and FILA World Grappling champion Lisa Ward in the ring for Bodog’s 6th fight season in Vancouver B.C. Lisa, on a 7 fight winning streak was a strong opponent but Megumi kept her undefeated record intact with a first round armbar victory upping it to 12-0. Recently, Megumi defended her title as champion at the –Smackgirl: Grappling Queen Tournament- and again walked home with the gold after taking out her first two opponents with a Front Choke and Toe Hold and then out pointing Kyoko Takabayashi in the finals. Sayaka competed in her first BJJ World championship in Long Beach CA and was able to place 2nd in her weight class and 3rd in the absolute. Sayaka faced Laurence Cousins of France in the finals and lost by advantage after attempting the only offense of the match. Add this to Sayaka’s ADCC gold, and All-Japan Sambo gold with the Sambo World Championships being her next target. Great job you two. We are always proud of you! |
